China-Made Launching Gantry Erects World's Heaviest Precast Box Girder

“Yue Hai”, the launching gantry succeeded in erecting an 1,800-ton precast box girder of the Hangzhou-Ningbo Highway in East China's Zhejiang Province.

This is the world's largest launching gantry for full-span precast box girder developed and manufactured independently by China.

China Railway Science & Industry Group Co., Ltd, a subsidiary of China Railway Group Limited, was responsible for the development of the launching gantry which is capable of resisting strong gales and can be used in various kinds of engineering construction conditions.

It's worth mentioning that the launching gantry has so far obtained three patents for invention.

As for the Hangzhou-Ningbo Highway, it is about 161 kilometers long, and its main bridge is built with full-span precast box girders.
